Vicky Lawrence has been creating Quilt patterns for many years. You can check out her designs on her website.
However, her "Nouveau Fleur Quilt" from her Garden Nouveau Quilts books stopped me in my tracks when I first saw it at the Dallas Quilt Show in 2010. Vicky's pattern and the quilt that I saw is based on hand applique. I was inspired to digitize this design for my embroidery machine and then make it into a pattern for others to enjoy.
I have two different patterns based on Vicky's Garden Nouveau Quilts book. One is the complete Garden Fleur Quilt, and the other pattern are the 5 applique designs for the projects in Vicky's book. My patterns provide detailed instructions for producing each of the applique blocks on the embroidery machine using the "Applique in the Hoop" technique. For instructions for assembly of these projects refer to the Garden Nouveau Quilts book by Vicky Lawrence.
Both patterns do require the embroidery machine to support an 8" x 14" (200mm x 360mm) and 8" x 10" (200mm x 360mm) stitch area. Embroidery machines that support this stitch area are: Creative Vision by Pfaff; Diamond Deluxe, Diamond, Ruby and Topaz 130 by Viking and Bernina 830.
